Commentary
Inschrift in die Rückseite einer aufwendigen Silberapplik eingeritzt (Graffito), die erst sekundär als Dekoration (Attiskopf) einer Silberpatera adaptiert worden ist. Teil des Hildesheimer Silberschatzes. Entstehung des Graffito während der Wirren des Bataveraufstandes; möglicherweise Name eines germanischen Soldaten in Diensten der Aufständischen, der mit dem Silberschmuck ausgezahlt worden war (Letta). An der Unterseite der Patera die Gewichtsangabe: IV p(ondo) (libras) IV (unicas quinque).
