Search help
In order to achieve an utmost exploitation of the data, the Extended Search module enables to search in every rubric of the data forms with an unrestricted combination of the search criteria, i.e. here more than one criterion can be searched for one single rubric with the help of the "Add search group" system. In this way you can search as many criteria as you wish by having the possibility to connect search groups with the operators AND/OR and to combine criteria via AND/OR within the search groups. Moreover, criteria can not only be included but also excluded (by choosing "not equal" in the search window of the related heading or subheading); in the case of exclusion (i.e. by choosing "not equal") all criteria to be excluded (set either in the same search group or in separate search groups) should always be connected by AND (and never by OR). It is also possible to exclude criteria by choosing "equal" in the search window of the relevant heading or subheading and connecting each of the criteria to be excluded (set either in the same search group or in separate search groups) to each other by AND, then ticking the "NOT" box above the search group(s). Contrary to the Simple Search module, any number of criteria (e.g. Code: Vocalismus AND/OR Consonantismus etc. as code types or á > E AND/OR á: > e etc. as codes) for a heading or subheading of the data form can be combined with any other criteria (e.g. Pannonia Inferior AND/OR Pannonia Superior etc.) for another heading or subheading of the data form (e.g. Localization, Province) or with any number of criteria (e.g. from the year 101 to the year 300, AND/OR from the year 151 to the year 200 etc. AND/OR prose etc. AND/OR stone etc.) for each heading or subheading of the data form (such as Date etc. AND/OR Type of inscription etc. AND/OR object bearing the inscription etc.). There is further special search help connected to the related subheadings of the data form (e.g. to various types of search concerning the subheadings Periods of the heading Date). If you are a registered user, you can even save your query by naming it in the field "Saved query name" and by clicking "Save this search query". By clicking on its name in the module entitled "Saved queries", you can insert it again in the Extended Search module (beyond the possibility to rename or delete it).
Export Diagram Charting help
The charting module connected to the search modules enables to discover and visualize inner structural properties of the searched data sets that are displayed as separate records arranged under the related chart. Each record containing more data rows can be split into separate records (by clicking 'UnJoin data rows'). For technical reasons the chart itself will, however, only be displayed under 50 tokens (records), i.e. unjoined data rows; if there are more than 50 data rows (records) to be displayed, the number of records below the chart must be reduced to under 50 tokens until the chart above appears, either by switching off unnecessary records or by contracting related items (e.g. codes) in the same record and switching off cleared records via clicking 'don't chart this record'. The order of the records can be changed arbitrarily by clicking on the arrows (down or up) at the head of the record and the movement of the records will automatically be followed by the related section of the chart. New records can be created by clicking 'Add record'. The data rows of a record can be moved and placed in another record by clicking on the related data row (i.e. a line in a record) and at the same time dragging it over to another record. The records can be named or renamed freely, which is followed by the related section of the chart. The chart itself can be named ('title of the diagram') and its settings can be modified in the given ways (size/color/shape of the diagram). The original layout of the diagram can be set back by reloading the related webpage or by using CTRL + F5. The chart can be downloaded to the user's computer (right click on the mouse and 'Save Picture as') and registered users can save it along with the related records into the registered user's folder in the system. In this case the diagram saved along with the related records can be reloaded from the 'saved diagrams' folder by clicking on its title and then the reloaded diagram (with the same data content) can be edited and saved again under another name etc. The basic criteria of the search results that can be displayed on chart are as follows:
Code 1
concerning the main code of the selected data forms; if more code-types (e.g. Vocalismus OR Consonantismus) are chosen, then in distribution concerning each code-type (e.g. Vocalismus, Consonantismus); if only one code-type (e.g. Vocalismus) is chosen, then in distribution concerning each code (e.g. á > E, á: > E etc.), with regard to the technical peculiarities explained above.
Code 1 Ocharts the search results the same as 'code 1', but separates purely orthographic code types as 'Orthographica'.
Code 1acharts the search results just as 'code 1' but by contracted code-types, i.e. Vocalismus and Consonantismus are integrated as Phonologica and again Nominalia, Verbalia and Syntcatica are integrated as Morphosyntactica.
Code 1a Ocharts the search results the same as 'code 1a', but separates purely orthographic code types as 'Orthographica'.
Code 1bcharts the search results the same way 'code 1a' does, but displays the various code types grouped into the following three sets: non-linguistic errors (errores non grammatici), purely spelling errors (orthographica), and linguistic errors (linguistica).
Code 2concerning the main and alternative codes of the selected data forms, beyond the main codes (e.g. o: > V) also the same corresponding alternative codes (e.g. o: > V) are displayed with their figures integrated in the related record and chart. Thus the module enables to gather the related codes recorded either in the code or in the alternative code subheading in an arbitrary order, but it works only for different main and alternative codes such as code Decl. IV pro II, alt. code o: > V and vice versa; for a data form with a code and an alternative code of the same code-type such as code nom./acc. pro abl. and alt. code dat./abl. pro acc. (both for Nominalia), the data form will be displayed merely concerning its main code to avoid involving the same data form twice. Date 1in division concerning centuries; the selected data forms are automatically inserted in centuries, the data forms with a longer date than a year are inserted by averaging their dates as follows: e.g. a data form with a date 151-200 AD will be inserted in the 2nd century AD by the date 176 AD, a data form with a date 251-350 in the 4th century AD by the date 301 AD and so forth.
Date 2in division concerning centuries; the selected data forms are automatically inserted in centuries (e.g. the 2nd century AD: 101-200, 151-175, 155 etc.), the data forms with a date somehow expanding a century (e.g. 101-250, 98-110, 1-300 etc.) are however inserted in a separate record entitled 'other', where they can be edited and rearranged (put in new records as well etc.) manually as you wish. The undated data forms are again inserted in a separate record entitled 'cannot be estimated provisionally'
Bibl 1in division concerning the abbreviated title of the corpus displayed in the main bibliography subheading of the data forms (e.g. as for Dalmatia: CIL, ILJug, Salona etc.)
